We are the

Our vision

To inspire participants to build communities and to grow through and in the game of softball according to Kingdom values in and beyond the CCSA.

Our mission

In partnership with local churches, we will build God’s Kingdom through the game of softball by supporting recreation, outreach, fellowship and leadership development.

Every summer and fall, we organize over 300 games for 1500 athletes from our 48 member churches in the Greater Toronto Area. Now in our 42nd season, our players and alumni have been recognized for their exceptional sportsmanship and professional play in tournaments and other leagues throughout Ontario.

League history

In 1980, a group of Chinese churches from downtown Toronto made an effort to connect with each other, and foster fun and fellowship using the game of softball. During the inaugural season in 1981, 6 teams formed the first Chinese Christian Softball Association (CCSA).

Over the years, more churches and teams have joined the league. To address the growing age variance, the league created separate divisions for Junior (high school-aged players) and Senior (after high school) players. Besides handing out championship awards to the division winners, the league also presents the Most Appreciated Team (MAT) award each season to deserving teams, as chosen by their peers.

Now, the league spans across all corners of the Greater Toronto Area (and in some cases, beyond), with games being played all across the city. But the purpose remains the same: recreation, outreach, leadership development, fellowship.

In 2021, the Chinese Christian Softball Association decided to change its name to the Christian Community Softball Association.

Statement of Faith

The CCSA, as a Christian faith-based organization, we believe in the following:

  1. We believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired and infallible Word of God and is authoritative in matters of Christian belief and conduct.
  2. We believe that there is but one living and true God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe that Jesus Christ is both fully Divine and fully Human.
  4. We believe that humans were created in the image of God, that we sinned, and in consequence incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death (separation from God).
  5. We believe that the death of Jesus Christ on the cross is sufficient for the atonement of all of humankind sins.
  6. We believe that God in His mercy and grace saves all who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ, justifying them through faith in the Saviour and them new life by the Holy Spirit.
  7. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust, and in the eternal blessedness of the redeemed and the eternal punishment of the lost.

Leadership team

The Christian Community Softball Association is a not-for-profit entirely led and run by volunteers, including our board of directors and executive committee.

We are always looking for new members to join! Please let us know at info@ccsasoftball.net if you’re interested in learning more!
